USA Today – Coolest Non-practical Things For Your Dorm

I wrote an article recently on the most random, useless things for your dorm room… thinking about picking up a few for myself this Christmas – (Especially this clever charging station, below).

iPhone Buzz

I’ll admit, even though I love my iPhone 4 very much, I DID consider switching to the iPhone 4S just because I have an unhealthy addiction to having the most updated, fresh version of every piece of technology I own. I decided to research the differences; and thank god I did. The changes are pretty minimal, besides Siri (a voice command assistant), who basically acts like your personal secretary. Sounds cool, but when it comes down to it, I think I’m capable of figuring out if i need an umbrella or where the closest sushi restaurant is.

I wrote an article with a more in-depth analysis that you can read, here.

USA Today!

I wrote a post on a DIY tie-dye tapestry for one of the websites I write for, (dormify.com, check it!), and my editor decided to send it to USA Today to have it featured on their college website. I was stoked🙂 Check it out here.

More than just some corny rant…

It’s weeks like these that make me realize how truly precious life is, and how much so many of us take it for granted. college students for some reason think themselves to be invincible, but that’s not how it is. it takes something as bad as almost losing one of your closest friends to realize. i was blessed enough to not have that happen.

that scares the shit out of me, though. it shouldn’t have to come to that for people to realize. i wish everyone could just know that already.

someone i’m not close to actually DID lose their life today. that could have been anyone of my friends. i can see how much everyone who was close to him are suffering, and shiver thinking about how much life he had ahead of him, and how quickly it was taken away. that’s why, while we are here, we shouldn’t be treating our bodies like they are indestructable. be good to yourself. it’s worth it.

Halloween

Halloween is literally one of the best holidays ever. My sis came to visit me and it was pure goodness.

The Little Things

Two things made me exponentially happy in the past 24 hours: discussing the end of my favorite party of Gatsby in class and falling in love with this delicious puppy. Yum.

Enjoy the little things in life; one day you will realize they were the big things.

Ropes Course…

The other day my sorority and I got ourselves up at 9 am on a Sunday (crazy, I know), and made our way to a ropes course about 30 minutes north of D.C. I didn’t really know what to expect going into it, but it ended up being an amazing experience. It also made me realize that once I die, I need to come back as a bird; the way they get to see the world is so much cooler. Not to mention, seeing how small the world actually is when viewing it from above is quite the metaphor for putting things into perspective.

All in all, good day.
